The start of an adventure

Well my first few days in Honduras have been absolutely amazing. From the second I got back down here and saw everyone again it was like I’d never left. I’m super excited to see how the summer is going to go. Right now, it looks like my main ministry is going to be working with Herman, building that relationship and encouraging him. Also Elisha and I are going to start spending a few days a week in Los Pinos, just visiting the families we know, showing them some love, and continuing the presence of Tony’s ministry in that area. Other than that, daily life will probably consist of time on the property with all the boys, helping them work, and just doing life.

There is a tremendous amount of love here and it’s so amazing to be a part of it. Tony has more boys (and one girl) living on the property now than probably ever before, and they are doing incredibly well. They’re in school, doing REALLY well in school, doing chores in the morning, washing their own dishes, learning to be respectful and hardworking. And every night, all 15ish of us living here come together to talk about the day and hear a message. That’s how every day ends, no matter how crazy it was, like a family coming together, with a mother and father who are there for them and love them, like they’ve never had before. These boys no longer live in dumps, they no longer think of themselves as street kids, and they are maturing so much in this environment. I’m incredibly excited to see the changes that will happen in the coming months, and hopefully I’ll be able to get some pictures up soon!

I’ve got an amazing community here that I’m so thankful for. Two members of my trip last summer are here, Kelly Morgan is here, Tony and Nidia are amazing, and another girl Cassie from a previous world race team is living here. It’s a community built on service, for each other and strangers, unconditional love, vulnerability and trust. Just the other day, me and Elisha took a long walk and just talked about life and struggles and Honduras. He is a straight up gift from God. He is wise, he is completely open, he’s ridiculously encouraging and inspiring. And the whole community is like that. It’s a place where I can talk about my crap without judgment, and I can be encouraged and challenged to grow. I’d encourage yall just to pray for everyone staying here, and especially for Tony and Nidia. Their work is emotionally exhausting but the community they’ve created is like nothing I’ve ever been a part of before.
