For example....
One $50/month sponsor can cover my time twice a month in Los
Pinos with Asmin and Anderson visiting their mom Marlin and sharing a meal
together. ($50 covers transportation,
food, occasional emergency provisions)
One $50/month sponsor can support my ministry with the girls. We are currently going through a "Not a Fan" together, and I use my weekly time with them not only to study and pray with them, but also to spend quality time together. Sometimes it's coffee and cookies, sometimes a day trip to a park, and once even an afternoon at the pool! Wherever we go or whatever we do, my goal is first their spiritual growth, second building a quality sister relationship with them so they can open up and know I am there for them in everything, and third make them feel special and loved.
One $50/month sponsor can cover the snacks I buy for the
older kids to take with them to school. At school from 7am until 2:30pm, they get
hungry, and I like to be able to provide them with healthy foods to fill them
up and keep their brains working. Snacks are generally juices, granola bars,
peanuts, fruit, chips, cookies, etc.
One $50/month sponsor can cover my phone and internet costs.
Internet is the only way I can share with the world what is happening at the
ministry; it is fundraising and networking.
One $50/month sponsor can cover general house costs. The
house is still relatively new and a work in progress. We started with a shell,
then slowly upgraded with doors on rooms, windows, mattresses, bunkbeds,
curtains, a working kitchen, a dining table, etc. We’re not missing much, but a
futon or cheap couch and a couple chairs would do wonders for our living room.
It’s also nice to have funds to replace blown lightbulbs, keep stocked with
cleaning supplies, and make general repairs.
One $50/month sponsor can cover my transportation for the
month. Whether it be putting gas in the car or bus or taxi fare, the total adds
up when you’ve got to be in the city almost every day.
One $50/month sponsor can help cover my two babies (sort
of). Asmin and Anderson are sponsored for school, but anyone who has children
knows that kids are expensive! They need play shoes, they need HEALTHY foods
and lots of them to keep putting on weight, they need clothes and towels and
socks, and they like occasional pool or park days to let them be kids.
Plenty of opportunities, plenty of need. If you feel called to give, you can make a tax-deductible donation at www.worldoutreach.org/donations and select my name from the drop down box (you can set up automatic monthly donations, if you wish). Please contact me at molly.hornsby@gmail.com with any comments or questions. Thank you for your generosity and how you're supporting the incredible things God is doing in Honduras!
