2014: Year in Review

What an incredible year it has been! I feel so blessed to be a part of so many things God has done this past year. While I certainly can't recount all the stories and moments from 2014, here are some of my favorite highlights. Enjoy!

  • Started out the year finding a new wonderful high school and getting Amalia, Dania, Luis, Hector, David, and Ariel sponsored and settled in their new schools!

  • In February, I celebrated my 1 year anniversary in Honduras

  • A new child was invited to the ministry - Alex

  • Zion's Gate was blessed by suitcases and suitcases filled with donations of hygiene items and more from loyal supporters in my hometown and all over!

  • Started my discipleship program with Amalia and Dania (and occasionally Jennifer!)

  • Visited Marlin in Los Pinos consistently every two weeks, and had her visit the ministry property monthly to maintain a healthy relationship with her kids, Asmin and Anderson
  • Began visiting Mari in Los Pinos every two weeks, bringing in food to help with her emergency medical situation, and checking up on Danielito and Jennifer as they too are sponsored for education.

  • Had so many visitors come to bless the ministry, especially over the summer months

  • Asmin graduated kindgergarten, and Anderson finished 1st grade and made the Honor Roll

  • Began looking into Universities with Jennifer, and experienced the ups and downs of prepping for the admissions exam then just barely missing the mark (she tries again in Janurary!)

  • My mom and sister visited and I had the opportunity to show them some of my favorite places and spend time with my favorite people!

  • Distributed about 20 water filters to families in Los Pinos, the elderly who Nidia works with, La Kennedy, and the area around the ministry property.

  • Admin and Anderson started back to school in 1st and 2nd grade after a summer full of at-home tutoring to improve their reading and math

  • Celebrated Honduras's independence day in the stadium downtown

  • Threw a surprise birthday shower for Fanny and had the chance to reconnect a bit with her

  • Celebrated with Marlin as she finally found work and plans to continue her studies next year

  • Began providing Marisol with PediaSure to fight her malnutrition and put her on a path to health

  • I was blessed by a FREE women's missionary retreat here in Honduras where I was poured into so much and able to spend time with other missionaries working here in Honduras

  • Visited home and was blessed by so much support and was able to spend Thanksgiving with my family

  • Decided to leave Zion's Gate to continue the ministries the Lord has appointed to me as a separate ministry. I'm all settled in and grateful everyday for this safe home environment He has provided for Anderson, Asmin, and I.

  • I got to be a part of Jennifer's graduation and celebrating with her

  • Hosted a wonderful Christmas event in Los Pinos complete with gift baskets full of food, a Christmas dinner, toys for the kids, and a wonderful time of fellowship with old and new faces and prayers for the big things God is doing and will continue to do in Los Pinos

  • I was able to return to Los Pinos a few days later and visit with many of the families from the event and enter parts that I hadn't been able to go into for over a year! Praise God!

  • Hosted a Christmas party (in my new home!) for all the kids at Zion's Gate and was able to hand out all the Christmas presents provided by sponsors from my hometown.

  • After all the events and planning were done, I was able to enjoy a calm Christmas at home and rest up to begin a big new year.

What a wonderful year, I couldn't ask for more!!

I'm praying this verse over 2015:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11
