First update!

INCREDIBLE! I’ve eaten plenty of Nidia’s delicious rice and beans, I’ve played futbol with the kids, I’ve had a taco date with little Anderson, I’ve had great talks with Ariel and Walter and so many of the boys, and I’ve reconnected with Tony, Nidia, and Cassie, the incredible leadership here at Zion’s Gate. I love that relationships built on a basis of God always seem to pick up so easily, like I never even left. He has built bonds here that will never be broken, and I’m starting to find my niche here in the ministry again. So, for those of you who want to know specifically what I’m doing here….

I’ll be in charge of the schooling of the little ones, William and Anderson. This means homework, uniforms, and meeting with their teacher every so often.

I’ll also now be in charge of correspondence with future missionaries/missionary groups that want to visit and serve at Zion’s Gate. Whether it’s individuals or entire squads, I’ll be working on scheduling, sending out information, and putting together a packet which makes it super easy for anyone with any amount of travel experience to come and serve side by side with us (hint hint, if you’ve ever thought about wanting to do missions, let me know!!)

I also plan to meet with Nidia, Tony’s wife, every week so we can help each other continue to grow in our faith and be general support for each other in a ministry that she pours herself into every single day. She is an amazing example of a Godly woman and wife, and an amazing influence in my life.

I am also meeting with Herman, who lives in Los Pinos again, once a week now. Please read the other blog (God is present and God is working) for more on how it has been going!

Finally, I’ve been spending a lot of time with Anderson, who is living on the property. He’s only seven years old, and I pray that as he grows up here, he will learn the respect, responsibility, and kindness towards others that the other boys here have learned. He is the cutest kid you’ll ever meet and while I don’t have a ton of kid experience, I pray that God will help me guide him to grow up as a man of God!

I know that was a lot of information, but all these are things that YOU as my supporters can be praying over.

I love this place, and even more than before I feel that this is where God wants me. Big things are happening: the girls home is a couple weeks from being completed, the house is packed with 20 people right now, and huge future plans are being made! I really feel that God is calling me to stay here long term, and I can only do that through your support! Please continue to pray about supporting me financially! Good internet is hard to come by here, but I’ll do my best to keep you all updated. As always, please contact me if you have any comments/questions (molly.hornsby@gmail.com). Love you guys!
