I hope that through the blogs this week you’ve been able to
understand a bit more of what I do, how I do it, and why I do the ministry I do
here in Honduras. I know it’s a lot of information, but I appreciate you
keeping up and keeping all aspects of the ministry in your prayers. The common thread to it all is a little
neighborhood called Los Pinos. I want to see God’s restoration in this place,
starting in homes with families and spreading to the whole community. I want to
see God’s name made known there and for people to fully understand his
character – powerful, gracious, constant, loving, just, etc., not the Divine
Punisher or a name said casually in conversation. He is the One we all
desperately need. I want to see God’s people activated in that truth and
passionately pursuing Him.
During my years as a missionary, I’ve learned that
“planning” the future is not a great use of my time. God’s plans will take me
where He wills, and my planning is generally nothing more than a futile attempt
to take control of a ministry that is not mine but His. For this season, God
has answered prayers and allowed be completely safe in entering Los Pinos and
he’s given me access to new areas and permission and protection from families
and the ruling gang alike. I can’t say how long that will last, but I know I
have it for this season, so I will take advantage of it. I can’t say where life
will lead the families I work with, so I have to be ready to adapt and not just
stick to my plan. In the immediate future, I plan to continue in all areas of
ministry that I’ve described to you in this past week of blogs. God is moving
in all areas, so I’m sticking with Him!
However, just because I can’t plan the future, doesn’t mean
I don’t have dreams for it. I would love to be trained as a
nurse, or at least be equipped to provide the most basic medical care. I want
to see more kids sponsored in school, highschool, and eventually the
university. I want to bring more resources to this community through brigades,
house builds, etc. And way ahead in the future, I’d love to become a foster mom
to provide temporary care for babies as they wait for their forever families.
Of course all of these dreams are in God’s hands, and He has
all authority to add, subtract, multiply and tell me to wait. But for now, this
is what I look to in the future.
I love what I do. Being a missionary is the most wonderful,
stretching, exhausting, fulfilling thing I’ve ever done. It has taught me to rely on God and God alone
for every single ounce of strength, wisdom, companionship, and provision. I
love what I do, and I wouldn’t change it for the world because it’s right in
the center of the calling God has purposed my life for.
I want to thank my supporters, all of you, who support me in
prayer, support, and finances.
Because of all the responsibilities I have here in Honduras
(especially the two kids), I don’t have the opportunity to visit home
often. I rely heavily on friends and
family to help spread the word about the ministry through their churches,
friends, small groups, workplaces, etc.
I’m currently at a point of urgently needing to find more
monthly supporters. For the past few months, I’ve not known how bills were
going to be paid, but by the grace of God they all were, and on time at that.
God always provides. I ask you to consider if God is calling you to give and
help me fulfill the calling God has on my life. I’m looking for monthly
sponsors at any amount, $25, $50, $75, $100, or one time sponsors just to help
me get through the next few difficult months. No donation amount is too small
(or too big, for that matter). All donations are tax deductible, and the information on how to donate can be found on the right sidebar of this blog. I can promise you that every dollar donated is
blessed by the Lord and multiplied to accomplish His purposes.
I work for the Kingdom, the Church, so we’re all in this
together. Making God’s name known in whatever way we’re called to do so.
